Update: Our Action on COVID Safety at Allianz Field
Leadership for the Red Loons, Dark Clouds, and True North Elite met with Minnesota United’s CEO, COO and field manager before last weekend’s match against Houston to ask MNUFC to require either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry to Allianz Field. The team made its opposition to a test/vaccine mandate clear, citing a concern for ticket sales, fear of drawing ire from anti-vaxxers, and even skepticism that a test/vaccine mandate would slow the spread of COVID.
It is long past time for MNUFC to prioritize the health and safety of its workers, its dedicated volunteers, and its supporters.
To convince MNUFC to adopt a test/vaccine mandate, the Red Loons and Dark Clouds are taking the following steps, effective immediately:
Our capos will not return to the stands this season until MNUFC adopts a test/vaccine mandate.
Members who want to skip home matches until MNUFC adopts a test/vaccine mandate are encouraged to do so and organize watch parties instead, at home or at venues where vaccines/negative tests are required. We also encourage anyone with season tickets who can afford not to resell their tickets to do so. An empty stadium will make a very strong point.
Finally, we encourage you to contact your ticket rep or the team’s front office (info@mnufc.com) and voice your support for this policy. If you can, please also reach out to 2-3 other supporters you know and ask them to do the same. We have a form email you can send below, though feel free to craft a message in your own words. Mass emails from supporters were instrumental in the Timbers Army’s successful push to require a test/vaccine check at Providence Park.
We hope that by taking these clear and direct steps together we can convince MNUFC to adopt a test/vaccine mandate and keep its workers, volunteers, and supporters safe.
Please reach out via email or social media if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or want to help out.

Dear [Ticket Rep],
I am writing to express my disappointment in MNUFC’s decision not to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry to Allianz Field.
I—and many others I know—would feel much safer entering the stadium with this policy in place. It would also offer fans who are unable or unwilling to get vaccinated the ability to safely attend games.
Several MLS clubs, including the Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, and Toronto FC, have successfully implemented this policy for their home matches and protected the health of their workers, volunteers, and supporters against the rising delta variant.
I ask that you please pass along both my disappointment that the team has not yet done so and also my hope that they will do the right thing soon. I believe MNUFC has the capacity and compassion to make this happen.
Thank you,
